Tattoo Aftercare

Tattoo aftercare is an important part of your new tattoo 💚 With the right care, you determine how beautiful your tattoo will be and, above all — remains!

How does tattoo aftercare work?

Tattoo aftercare takes place in three phases – from wound care to color preservation. Use the right essentials for each phase: Cleansing Gel, After Tattoo, Daily Care or Tattoo Film.

🩹 Phase 1 — Day 1–5 | Wound Care

  • 2-3x a day: clean with Cleansing Gel and moisturize with After Tattoo
  • or up to 5 days: Protect with Tattoo Film

✨ Phase 2 — Day 5–21 | Regeneration

  • 1-2x a day: gently wash with Cleansing Gel and apply a thin layer of After Tattoo
  • Continue until all scabs and flakes have disappeared

☀️ Phase 3 — Day 21+ | Color Preservation

  • Daily hydrate and protect with Daily Tattoo Care
  • Protect against strong sun with Sun Protection LSF30 & 50

How to care for your tattoo step by step

Step 1. Cleaning

Your tattoo artist will cover the tattoo immediately after application with foil or a bandage. Remove this after a few hours and always follow your artist's advice.

⚠️ Please note! First wash your hands before touching your tattoo.

Then carefully wash your tattoo with TattooMed Cleansing Gel and lukewarm water.
Remove blood, excess ink, and petroleum jelly to prevent thick scabs.
Rinse off all soap residue thoroughly and pat the skin dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.

Tip: The Cleansing Gel immediately soothes the skin and reduces the burning sensation.

Step 2. Protecting & moisturizing

With Tattoo Film: After the first cleaning, apply the film to clean, dry skin.
Do not use cream under the film. Leave the film on for 3–5 days.
Only replace in case of leakage or detachment — always clean and dry thoroughly before applying new film.

Without film: After each wash, apply a thin layer of TattooMed After Tattoo.
The skin needs to breathe, so never use too much.

Step 3. Repeat until day 21

With film, you only need to wash and moisturize again after removing the film.
Without film, clean and care for the tattoo 2–3 times a day for the first few days, then 1–2 times a day.
Continue this routine until all scabs and flakes have disappeared naturally.

Step 4. Long-term care (from day 21+)

After three weeks, your tattoo appears healed, but the deeper skin layers are still recovering.
Hydrate and protect daily with Daily Tattoo Care or Daily Oil Spray.
When exposed to strong sun, use Sun Protection with SPF30 or SPF50.

General tips

  • Avoid sun, sauna, swimming pool, and bath in the first few weeks
  • Wear loose, clean clothing so your tattoo can breathe
  • Only touch your tattoo with clean hands and never pull at scabs or flakes
  • Follow your tattoo artist's advice – they know your skin and tattoo best
