If tattoos don't heal well, it always comes at the expense of the design. The subtle accents that make your tattoo so special will be the first to disappear. There go your Euros and all those hours you spent in the tattoo chair. A shame and unnecessary.
We therefore advise you to take good care of your tattoos and, above all, to protect them. It doesn't matter how long you've had your tattoos. Tattooed skin always remains more vulnerable than untattooed skin. Tattoos and sun go perfectly together, if you take good care of them.
With your tattoo in the sun
TattooMed sun protection products protect your tattoo from harmful UV rays. If you start applying early, you will see that the color remains intact, even after years. Our Tattoo Sun Care creams also protect your skin against premature aging. That's a nice bonus ☀️
Choose the product you need and you are guaranteed reliable daily protection for your artwork and skin.
What UV radiation does to tattooed skin
Tattooed skin is very sensitive to sunlight. These are the negative effects
-
Certain tattoo colors absorb heat, causing the skin to swell slightly and start to itch.
-
When UV-B radiation penetrates the skin, melanin is produced. The body's own pigment penetrates all layers of the skin and covers your tattoo like a dark veil. This makes colors appear less intense and contours disappear.
-
Another negative effect is the permanent fading of the skin: UV-A radiation penetrates deep into the skin cells and changes the cell structure. The pigments of the tattoo colors 'migrate', as it were, to deeper skin layers or are completely destroyed in case of severe sunburn.
To ensure that UV-A and UV-B radiation do not damage your tattoos, you should protect your skin from sunlight even in winter. Because even if the sun is not shining, UV radiation is always there.
TattooMed Sun Protection creams are specially developed for tattooed skin and offer complete protection. Even during intense sunbathing.
5 reasons why UV protection from the sun is indispensable for tattoos:
-
The Sun Protect tattoo creams protect against UV-A and UV-B radiation.
-
Sun protection with SPF 25 and SPF 50 reduces the formation of melanin and protects the colors.
-
Sun Protect creams prevent color fading and slow down skin aging due to UV radiation.
-
Protects against sunburn and dry skin.
-
After Sun soothes and refreshes the skin after sunbathing and prevents swelling.
Which tattoo sun protection do you need?
TattooMed Sun Protection creams are available with different protection factors. If the sun is very bright, we recommend SPF 50. In all other cases, SPF 25 offers enough protection.
PLEASE NOTE: a higher sun protection factor does not mean that you can stay in the blazing sun for twice as long.
The value only indicates the intensity of the radiation protection. In winter, for example, a light cream with a low sun protection factor is sufficient. For daily protection of skin and tattoos, Daily Tattoo Care with a light protection factor is very suitable.
If you are going sunbathing or spending a day outdoors (in summer), use the Tattoo Sun Protection creams with a high UV protection factor. This way you can safely enjoy the sun with your tattoo.
How do you protect large tattoos from the sun?
Large tattoos on the arms or upper body fade quickly due to the sun. They therefore need extra protection to remain even and full of color even after years. If you have large tattoos, use Daily Tattoo Care in the morning after showering. This ensures a long-lasting beautiful tattoo.
Are you planning to sunbathe with your tattoo? Then increase the protection factor with one of the TattooMed sun creams.
TIP: Of course, you can also use our Tattoo Sun Care if you don't have tattoos!
