Bored during the Ink Lockdown? No need! 7 useful tips to combat boredom
Every new lockdown is also an "inkdown": it's eerily quiet in the studios, no new appointments, no machines running, and no happy customers. Appointments made long ago, eagerly awaited by clients, are cancelled, and no one knows when they'll be rescheduled.
The current corona restrictions are also hitting the tattoo industry hard. And the longer it lasts, the more we all get incredibly annoyed by it. Sooooo if your appointment is postponed indefinitely and you could use some distraction, we have a few Inkdown Tips for you below.
1. Brainstorm and collect new tattoo ideas
To come up with new ideas, you often need peace and quiet. Well, you have that now! On Pinterest, Instagram, and tattoo studio websites, you'll discover the coolest things you didn't even know existed.
So if you really don't know what to do with yourself during lockdown, calmly explore what new styles and trends are out there. It's an excellent way to find inspiration for your new tattoo! Maybe a whole new world will open up for you and you'll get a positive vibe from it. Focus on what inspires you when things are a little less cheerful. No grumbling, just get on with it!
Here's how to find the coolest tattoo ideas:
- Start with a general hashtag or search term on Google (#geometricaltattoo, #horrortattoo, #dotworktattoo)
- Swipe through the images that this search term yields. Do you see a motif that appeals to you? Find out who posted it and what hashtags are included.
- Look at the artist or studio itself. Most tattoo artists specialize in certain techniques or themes. By searching for the artist, you'll best see all their work.
First tattoo? Not too big PLEASE!
2. Take good care of your skin
The basic requirement for a beautiful tattoo is healthy skin. But healthy skin needs good care. Let your artwork shine again now that you have more time and pamper your skin, for example, with a soothing product from the TattooMed care line. The TattooMed Daily Care not only protects and cares for tattooed skin, but can be used for the entire body. The TattooMed Sun Protection and the TattooMed After Sun protect the skin against UV radiation and dehydration.
To continue improving the skin and slow down the aging process, we recommend applying cream daily and always using a UV blocker.
3. Get active and stay fit!
Large tattoos tend to adapt to the shape of the body and emphasize muscle groups. So if you want to show off your impressive chest this summer, now is the time to start training. Now that gyms are closed, you'll have to figure out how to do it yourself. Below you'll find a few exercises you can easily do without weights.
Easy fitness exercises for the winter lockdown:
- Push-ups: the classic workout for arms and chest
- Squats: daily knee bends to get the thighs in shape
- Donkey Kicks: effective for shaping your backside
- Daily run: strengthens your immune system and helps with fat burning
4. You can never get enough exercise
If you usually go to the gym weekly or daily, then just doing exercises without weights isn't enough now. If your muscles are used to intense training, you need to keep doing that. No weights at home? Use water bottles or a kitchen chair. Or train with your partner!
5. Wake up your left brain and become an artist yourself
Just try to create a beautiful design yourself. On YouTube, you'll find hundreds of tutorials for aspiring and experienced artists. Professionals also use the lockdown to perfect their style and gain new inspiration. Do you have to be a Schiffmacher immediately? Certainly not. Everything starts with daring to do it.
6. Try out new (preferably healthy) recipes
We want to, but we do it too little: try out new recipes. We often think it takes too much time, especially on weekdays. Now you have the time! Try new flavors and combinations, cook without haste, and enjoy it extra.
7. Go off the beaten path and try something different
During the inkdown, you can't always meet up with family and friends. That's a shame, but it also provides an opportunity for self-reflection. Maybe read that one book? Play an old game? Or make music again? By all means, try it.
Tip: use your smartphone as little as possible. Aimless scrolling wastes tons of time. Rather spend your time on things that relax you. And don't forget: do you know someone who is often alone? Call more often or go for a walk together. For someone living alone, that can be invaluable.
